The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Manhattan District said Tuesday that it has formed an FTX task force to recover assets of FTX victims and handle investigations and prosecutions related to the company and other entities, CNBC reported. The task force will be made up of prosecutors from the securities and commodities fraud, public corruption, money laundering and transnational criminal enterprise divisions. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) estimates that fraud by FTX and Alameda Research cost clients more than $8 billion. Foresight News previously reported that former FTX CEO SBF pleaded not guilty to eight charges related to FTX’s collapse in New York federal court. The U.S. District Court set a trial date of October 2, 2023.
