Woman Involved in Bitfinex Heist and $4.5 Billion Crypto Money Laundering Gets a New Job

Heather Morgan, the woman involved in the Bitfinex theft and $4.5 billion in crypto money laundering, has been hired by a technology company to lead growth marketing and business development efforts, according to Bloomberg. A federal magistrate judge granted Morgan's request to amend the terms of her stay-at-home order to work three days a week from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. in her employer's New York office. A status hearing in the case is scheduled for Jan. 27 in Washington. Foresight News previously reported that U.S. authorities arrested Heather Morgan and her husband, Ilya Lichtenstein, in February 2022, accusing the couple of alleged involvement in the multibillion-dollar money laundering case of the crypto exchange Bitfinex, after an initial hearing earlier this year. The couple have since been released on an $8 million group bond and are seeking a stay of proceedings. Morgan was allowed to search for a new job in July while the case was pending.
