Europol: Bitzlato traded around 1 billion euros in assets linked to criminal activity

Cryptocurrency exchange Bitzlato traded about 1 billion euros in criminally-related assets, accounting for about 46 percent of the 2.1 billion euros in funds received by the platform, Europol said in a statement. Bitzlato's chief executive officer, chief financial officer and marketing director were all arrested in Spain, while two others were arrested in Cyprus and the United States. Europol said it had seized 18 million euros worth of cryptocurrencies, vehicles and electronics, and had frozen 50 million euros ($54.3 million) in cryptocurrencies on other exchanges.
