According to South Korea's "Asian Daily" citing data from the Korean Patent Office, the patents related to "Metaverse" applied to South Korea, the United States, Japan, China, the European Union and other Intellectual Property Offices (IP5) in the past 10 years (2011 to 2020) The average annual growth rate was 16.1%. In the past five years (2016 to 2020), the number of applications filed by the above five countries and regions was 43,698, a nearly three-fold increase from 14,983 in 2011 to 2015. From the perspective of the nationality of applicants, from 2011 to 2020, the United States has the most, with 17,293 (35.9%), followed by China with 14,291 (29.7%), and South Korea with 7,808 (16.2%). From the list of global applicants, Microsoft of the United States ranked first with 1,437 applications. It was followed by IBM (1,212) and Samsung Electronics (1,173).
