According to the 2022 annual report of the Filecoin Foundation, the total storage capacity of Filecoin is close to 19 EiB, accounting for 1% of the total global storage capacity; more than 300 PiB of data is stored on the network through the social layer Filecoin Plus; there are nearly 4,000 storage providers (Storage Providers) Contribute data capacity to the Filecoin network; provide storage services for UC Berkeley Underground Physics Group, Starling Lab and other individuals, organizations, and government agencies, and cooperate with Lockheed Martin to deploy IPFS in space. In 2022, the Filecoin Foundation approved more than 150 grants through the Developer Grants Program (The Dev Grants program); the Filecoin Foundation is working with the ECC on a new agreement to create a joint grant pool for Filecoin and Zcash, and Partnering with Unfinished for Explorer Scholarships and Chainlink for a joint grants program to support decentralized off-chain computing, data and storage. In addition, in the spring of 2023, the Filecoin virtual machine FVM will usher in an update, and developers will be able to deploy user-defined smart contracts on the Filecoin blockchain and storage network for the first time.
