zkSync released a detailed report on the compromised Twitter account, stating that "the imposter faked his identity and claimed to be an official zkSync representative when contacting Twitter support. Unfortunately, Twitter's technical support staff did not follow standard procedures and approved impersonator's request to change email and password". Due to zkSync enabling 2FA, the attacker was unable to access the account, but since the password was changed, the team was logged out and inaccessible, Twitter then secured the account and worked closely to resolve the issue. Additionally, “Twitter has expedited the application for the Gold Verified badge, and all officially affiliated accounts now have a small zkSync symbol next to their name”. Foresight News previously reported that Matter Labs tweeted in response to the hacking of the zkSync Twitter account, saying that there is strong evidence that the zkSync Twitter account was attacked and had nothing to do with its system.
