UK House of Lords Passes Online Safety Bill Applicable to Metaverse

According to CoinDesk, the House of Lords of the British Parliament passed the "Online Security Bill", the Metaverse falls within the scope of the bill, and the bill has entered the final stage of approval before it becomes law. UK lawmakers have cited the potential harm children could face during virtual reality experiences, saying it was important to ensure the Online Safety Act applies to the Metaverse. The Minister of Communications Ofcom, the UK's communications regulator, said the act would apply to "anything that communicates over an internet service", which includes user-created objects or avatars and interactions between users in the Metaverse.
