Odaily Planet Daily News Ordinals founder Casey Rodarmor proposed changing the protocol numbering system to simplify the project’s code base.
Rodarmor believes that keeping the inscription numbers stable resulted in "chaotic code and stagnant development." Therefore, Rodarmor proposes that inscription numbers be "permanently destabilized," meaning that the numbering system that assigns unique numbers to inscriptions will be de-prioritized.
Rodarmor said that this move will simplify the protocol’s code base and make it easier to make future protocol changes. Rodarmor further stated that the inscription numbers will change, but will not be completely cancelled. The new inscription numbers will be close to the old ones, but may differ by 1%. (Cointelegraph)
