Odaily Planet Daily News Peter Marton, head of the virtual currency department of the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYSDF), will leave his post at the end of this month and transfer to a private company that is not regulated by NYSDF.
Before joining New York regulators, Marton served as director of digital assets at consulting firm Promontory Financial Group, part of IBM Consulting.
NYDFS has posted a job announcement for this position, requiring candidates to submit resumes and letters of interest to the agency by October 9. The position’s responsibilities include BitLicense license applications, which allow companies in the state to conduct crypto operations, as well as providing guidance on the review of virtual currency companies and coordinating with other regulatory agencies.
