Odaily Planet Daily News A cross-party British parliamentary committee urged the government to take measures to protect creators from copyright infringement related to NFTs and warned about the potential harm of digital assets issued by relevant sports groups.
In a press release on October 11, the Commission stated that the most pressing issue is that the intellectual property rights of artists are threatened, because the speed and convenience of NFT generation make it easy to copy, while in comparison, it is difficult for artists to protect their own rights and interests. It takes more time.
Committee chairperson Dame Caroline Dinenage said: "Artists risk seeing the work of their hard work stolen and promoted without authorization, while false and misleading advertising adds additional uncertainty to an already risky business."
The committee’s report recommends that the government work with NFT markets to introduce a code of conduct to protect creators, consumers and sellers from infringing and potentially fraudulent material sold on these platforms.
In addition, the committee also warned that the issuance of digital currencies by sports leagues or teams could cause potential harm to fans and called for a ban on the issuance of such digital assets. This comes after a number of football organizations in the UK launched "fan tokens" aimed at providing exclusive rights and benefits, but the council claimed this often failed to materialize. The committee concluded that the use of fan tokens should be explicitly excluded from any fan interaction in sports. (Cointelegraph)
