The DFINITY Foundation is developing a global standard technology to incentivize recycling activities and is working with management consultancy Roland Berger.
Inspired by the carbon credit market, Roland Berger launched the Voluntary Recycling Credit (VRC) standard in June this year. The VRC initiative aims to address global issues in the waste management sector that contribute to climate change, the company said in a statement, adding that of the 2 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste generated annually, less than 10% of plastic waste is recycled globally. %.
DFINITY will build a product on an Internet computer for buying, selling, and trading recycling credits that can be tracked by recyclers, waste producers, and others. (CoinDesk)
