Bitcoin advocate and current President of El Salvador Nayib Bukele was officially nominated by his party to run for re-election on October 16 and received public support. Nayib Bukele has already submitted relevant documents in order to be re-elected in the country's upcoming 2024 presidential election in February.
According to previous reports, in a poll report as of February this year, about 94% of the Salvadoran people planned to vote for the current President Nayib Bukele to continue as president.
In December last year, Nayib Bukele signed Order No. 49 to establish the National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC), which will serve as an administrative department with functional and technical autonomy. One of ONBTC’s responsibilities is to provide information about Bitcoin, blockchain and cryptocurrencies in El Salvador to the media and anyone interested. In addition, ONBTC will assist foreign cryptocurrency businesses and investors seeking to do business in El Salvador and visit the country, and actively promote El Salvador’s participation in various international forums.
