The European Union (EU) has finalized the Digital Identity Wallet Agreement, allowing for the implementation of digital identity wallet projects across the EU. The agreement builds on the Digital Identity Politics agreement reached in June and aims to expand access to government and private services using simple mobile document applications. EU Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton said the wallet will feature the "highest levels of security and privacy", giving Europeans control over which apps can access their data. Private businesses and companies such as Amazon and Facebook will have to use these European standards-based digital identity services to implement public identity checks. (Newsbitcoin)
