Russia’s Trade Ministry said it has developed a tool to help crypto miners avoid sanctions from Western countries.
According to a video posted by DumaTV on the RuTube video-sharing platform, the Russian lawmaker explained that the Ministry of Industry and Trade had “developed a tool for carrying out industrial mining activities.” They said the tool would help Russian businesses make cross-border payments.
This video features an interview with Anton Tkachev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications. Anton Tkachev did not reveal details about the new “tool” but said that Russian companies, including mining companies, may soon seek to increase the use of cryptocurrencies. He explained that transactions in cryptocurrencies would “make it more difficult for Western enemies to track”; but within Russia, lawmakers still want to ban the circulation of cryptocurrencies.
