Lido’s new proposal recommends adopting the xERC20 standard for wstETH full-chain circulation

The Lido community is putting forward a new proposal aimed at prompting the DAO to consider adopting xERC20, a cross-chain token standard, with plans to apply it to wstETH. The next step of the proposal is to discuss it within the Lido community to clarify the standard and the implementation process (including the whitelisting process). If the community supports the proposal early, the first temperature checks will be proposed in January 2024. xERC20 is an open cross-chain standard (EIP72816) that allows any cross-chain bridge to be used with Lido, i.e. allowing Lido DAO to whitelist specific bridges, giving them the right to mint cross-chain tokens of the same representation.
