A Supreme Court judge in British Columbia, Canada, has ruled that the province’s power company B.C Hydro’s suspension of a cryptocurrency mining project was justified, according to a ruling released on Monday.
The ban was challenged by forestry company Conifex Timber, which has dabbled in cryptocurrency mining. Conifex is planning a mining operation with the Tsay Keh Dene Nation, an indigenous tribe.
In his ruling, Justice Michael Tammen said the ban, which was first enacted in December 2022, was reasonable, non-discriminatory and within the scope of the province's Utilities Commission Act. For its part, Conifex stressed that it views the ongoing ban as a missed opportunity for the province. (CoinDesk)
