According to PANews, the UK National Crime Agency (NCA) announced on February 20th that it has dismantled the world's largest cybercrime organization, LockBit, after infiltrating its network. The NCA has taken control of multiple LockBit services, damaging their entire criminal enterprise.
LockBit ransomware gang has been extremely active since September 2019. LockBit itself is malicious software that can automatically scan valuable targets, spread infections, and encrypt all accessible computer systems on the network. LockBit extorts victims by preventing them from accessing their computer systems in exchange for ransom payments. The cybercriminals typically accept payments in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Monero, or Zcash.
