Primitive Ventures today announced that Allen Day, a member of the founding team of Google Web3, has joined the fund as an investment partner. Allen Day holds a PhD in human genetics from UCLA. During his tenure at Google, he founded the Web3 team and built Google Web3's developer relations team. He also made numerous contributions to open source development and data infrastructure, writing Blockchain ETL, Google Cloud crypto public dataset, etc. At Primitive Ventures, Allen will focus on decentralized artificial intelligence infrastructure, next-generation data platforms and computing architectures, and new encryption paradigms and verification mechanisms.
Primitive Ventures was founded in 2018 by well-known cryptocurrency investor Dovey Wan. What makes it different from other venture capital institutions is that it invests entirely with its own funds and does not rely on external LPs. It is an evergreen native fund structure that continues to cross cycles. The fund invested in many industry leading projects in the early stage, such as Cosmos, Starkware, Theta Network, Optimism, Nansen, GMX, Blast, AltLayer, Ethena, Aevo, etc.
