The Arbitrum community has launched a new proposal to activate Arbitrum Stylus on Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova. Stylus is an upgrade that introduces a new virtual machine that runs alongside the EVM. This enables developers to write smart contracts in new programming languages such as Rust, which is more efficient than Solidity smart contracts. Stylus is called EVM+ and is an additional enhancement that ensures seamless compatibility between Stylus and existing EVM contracts.
Stylus is in production and once completed, the upgrade can ideally be carried out on Arbitrum Sepolia and then on Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova. On-chain voting on this AIP will only be carried out if there is a public audit report.
