The criminal fraud and manipulation trial of cryptocurrency trader Avi Eisenberg is set to begin on Tuesday.
A federal judge has selected a 15-member jury ahead of the trial, which includes a rare book seller, an elementary school music instructor and a financial professional.
The trial, expected to last two weeks, will focus on whether Eisenberg broke the law and paralyzed Solana ecosystem cryptocurrency trading platform Mango Markets by implementing a so-called "highly profitable trading strategy" last October.
Eisenberg is accused of manipulating the price of MNGO tokens to conduct illegal operations in Mango Markets futures contracts and successfully borrow all deposits on the Mango platform as collateral. In this way, he is suspected of illegally obtaining about $110 million worth of cryptocurrency on the platform. He later returned some of the funds in exchange for a promise from Mango supporters not to sue him. However, this promise was ultimately not fulfilled. (CoinDesk)
