According to Foresight News, Ahmad Shadid, the founder and CEO of Solana's DePIN protocol io.net, has announced that the network has recovered from a recent security breach. In a post-event analysis shared on social media on April 27, Shadid stated that the team had worked tirelessly over the past 120 hours to expel the attackers from the network, launch multiple security patches, and establish a new security model to prevent future incidents.
The network infrastructure is now fully operational and running normally. In addition, the business team is currently coordinating the network restart work, prioritizing supplier relationships, and working to restore the network supply as soon as possible. The team still plans to launch IO Cloud v2 and IO tokens and will continue to improve the network based on community feedback.
In a previous message from Foresight News, Shadid tweeted that io.net's metadata API had encountered a security incident. Attackers exploited the accessible mapping from user ID to device ID, resulting in unauthorized metadata updates. This vulnerability did not affect GPU access but did affect the metadata displayed to users by the front end. io.net does not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) and will not disclose sensitive user or device data.
