Advocates of the much-anticipated stablecoin legislation are trying to tie it to an unrelated must-pass reauthorization bill, but leaders in the Senate and House are trying to free it from such an attachment, a Democratic aide said.
This week, U.S. lawmakers held serious discussions on whether to include stablecoin regulatory amendments in Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization legislation, which is approaching a deadline.
This approach of using the bill for other businesses has been rejected by leaders who support the so-called "clean bill," so the main stablecoin talks between House Financial Services Committee Chairman Patrick McHenry and Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters will return to negotiations on a final agreement, the aide said. (CoinDesk)
