According to Odaily, a federal jury in Salt Lake City, USA, has convicted Oluwole Adegboruwa and Enrique Isong on multiple drug-related charges. Between 2016 and 2019, they generated over $8 million in cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum. Adegboruwa, operating under the aliases 'King Odua' and 'Alagbada726', converted the cryptocurrencies into traditional currency. The sentencing is scheduled for August.
The jury also ordered the confiscation of $380,396 in cash from Adegboruwa, a 2017 Dodge Charger, 26 money orders totaling $9,400, and over $15 million in cryptocurrencies. The case highlights the increasing use of digital currencies in illegal activities and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to curb such practices.
