On December 4, local time, nine media groups including the Korean Journalists Association urged President Yoon Seok-yeol to "step down immediately and be detained for investigation." These media groups held an emergency press conference in front of the Korean News Center that day, and said that Yoon Seok-yeol's previous emergency martial law order was a serious crime of using the military to interrupt the democratic constitutional order and trample on the basic rights and freedom of speech of the people. This move violated the constitution and undermined the constitutional order, and should be dealt with as a crime of civil strife. The media groups pointed out that "although the president used the opposition party's budget cuts and the impeachment of the State Council as an excuse to declare martial law, none of them is a reason for declaring martial law stipulated in the constitution, which is very clear."
