One of the main promoters of the Forcount cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud.
Juan Tacuri was the central figure in the Ponzi scheme, which defrauded $8.4 million from primarily Spanish-speaking investors around the world, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Southern District of New York Attorney’s Office said in a June 5 statement. Juan Tacuri was one of the most successful promoters of the scam, profiting millions of dollars from his participation in the fraud.
The scam was based on false promises that investors would receive returns from Forcount’s cryptocurrency trading and mining operations, including doubling their initial investment within the first six months. (Cointelegraph)
