SlowMist: Assisted in freezing approximately $24.39 million in stolen funds in the first half of 2024

SlowMist released the 2024 Mid-Year AML Report, covering key regulatory policies, security incidents and "anti-money laundering" trends. Some of the highlights are as follows: 1. 223 major security incidents were recorded in the first half of 2024, with a loss of US$1.43 billion, an increase of 55% year-on-year. Most of the losses occurred on the Ethereum network, followed by Arbitrium; 2. Regulatory efforts are increasing in mainland China, as well as Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States, Europe and the Middle East. Due to the complexity of cryptocurrencies, regulation involves financial stability, consumer protection and anti-money laundering. As the market grows, strong regulation and international cooperation are essential to address these challenges; 3. In the first half of 2024, Tether banned 374 ETH addresses and froze all USDT-ERC20, while Circle banned 28 ETH addresses and froze all USDT-ERC20. With the support of InMist's internal partners, SlowMist froze approximately $24.39 million in stolen funds; 4. One of the main money laundering gangs is still the North Korean hacker group Lazarus, which continues to design more complex money laundering methods.
