According to Decrypt, German law enforcement disclosed to it that the "emergency sale" of nearly 50,000 bitcoins has ended, with sales revenue reaching $2.88 billion (2.639 billion euros), while the value of the relevant bitcoins when German law enforcement seized them was about $2.1 billion. German law enforcement said that these proceeds did not initially represent any additional income for the Free State of Saxony, but would be kept until the criminal proceedings were finally concluded.
It is reported that the sale totaled 49,858 bitcoins and took place between June 19 and July 12. It was completed by the coordinated efforts of the Central Office for the Protection, Custody and Use of Cryptocurrency of the Saxony State Police, the Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office and the German trading company Bankhaus Scheich.
