India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is actively monitoring cryptocurrency payments on the dark web, has set up a special task force, and launched digital forensics training to address the growing abuse of cryptocurrency in drug trafficking.
In a parliamentary discussion on July 24, Indian Home Minister Nityanand Rai revealed India’s current strategy to reduce the import and inter-state movement of narcotic drugs. According to the NCB, the number of drug seizure cases involving the dark web and cryptocurrencies has been growing steadily since 2022. Rai detailed 13 action plans to address the growing problem of drug trafficking and narco-terrorism in India, two of which involve cryptocurrency payments. (Cointelegraph)
