OpenAI was founded in 2015 with 11 members, and eight co-founders have left the company so far. One of the remaining co-founders, President Greg Brockman, said he would take a long vacation on Monday. (Business Insider)
Earlier today, it was reported that Greg Brockman, president of OpenAI and one of the 11 co-founders, would extend his vacation. Another co-founder and key leader, John Schulman, has defected to Anthropic, a competitor founded by former OpenAI researchers. Peter Deng, the product director who joined the company last year, has also left, according to a person with direct knowledge of the company's changes. He previously served as product director at Meta Platform, Uber and Airtable.
The previously unreported departures appear to be unrelated to each other, but it suggests that the company's leadership has not yet stabilized after firing and rehiring CEO Sam Altman in November last year.
