Anthropic AI Launches Artifacts Feature For Claude Users

According to Cointelegraph, Anthropic AI has introduced its 'Artifacts' feature for both paid and free Claude users, now available on iOS and Android devices. Artifacts automatically prompts the Claude AI model to separate specific information from user conversations into a dedicated window, containing details such as outlines, graphs, code snippets, and overviews. This feature, initially launched with Claude 3.5 Sonnet in June for paid subscribers, was previously only accessible via browsers. It has received positive feedback from insiders and pundits, who have praised it as a valuable addition to the chatbot arena. Anthropic explains that when users ask Claude to generate content like code snippets, text documents, or website designs, these Artifacts appear in a separate window alongside their conversation. This setup creates a dynamic workspace where users can view, edit, and build upon Claude’s creations in real-time, seamlessly integrating AI-generated content into their projects and workflows. The documents generated can be customized through ongoing conversations with the AI model and shared with other Claude users as community Artifacts, which can then be remixed and reused. Since its launch in June, more than 10 million artifacts have been created, with many featuring developer code. Users have also highlighted the feature’s ability to collaboratively create project overviews, designs, and complex workflows when integrated with Claude’s 'projects' feature. This update comes amid Anthropic's involvement in discussions with California lawmakers over bill SB-1074, which aims to hold AI developers accountable for harm caused by their models. The bill is currently awaiting a decision from Governor Gavin Newsom, with a deadline of August 31.
