Vice President Harris raised and spent far more money than former President Trump in August, and she will have more cash at the end of the month to make a final push for the November election, according to new Federal Election Commission filings.
The Harris campaign raised more than $189 million in August, more than four times the $44 million raised by the Trump campaign. The figures reflect money raised specifically for the candidate's main campaign account and do not include contributions to other arms of their political activities.
The Harris campaign announced earlier this month that it raised a total of $361 million in campaign contributions in August in conjunction with the Democratic National Committee and fundraising committees. By comparison, the Trump campaign and its joint fundraising committees raised just $130 million.
The figures do not include contributions from September, which included $47 million in cash raised by the Harris campaign from nearly 600,000 donors in the 24 hours following the first and only Harris-Trump debate.
Harris' campaign accepted CNN's invitation on Saturday to hold a second debate on October 23, but Trump has so far been adamant that he will not participate. (CNBC)
