The Web3 social graph protocol Lens Protocol announced the use of the messaging protocol XMTP to provide a secure and private private message service between Profiles for the entire Lens ecosystem, and currently allows users to send private messages to each other in Lenster. Lens Protocol stated that Lens Profile messages will be available on any other front-end that supports XMTP, all messages are end-to-end encrypted and can only be decrypted through wallet addresses, and messages are sent off-chain without any Gas fees. XMTP aims to bring secure communication to Web3, supporting fully end-to-end encrypted messaging between blockchain accounts. In September 2021, XMTP completed a US$20 million Series A financing led by a16z Crypto.
