Jerry Brito, executive director of crypto think tank Coin Center, will step down at the end of the year, and Robin Weisman, senior policy advisor at Coin Center, will also leave. Brito said both will remain on the organization's board of directors and will advise the team in the future.
"When I leave Coin Center, I am very proud of what we have achieved over the past decade," Brito said. "When we started in 2014, it was unclear whether the government would allow Bitcoin to flourish. Technically, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are unstoppable, yes, but there is a lot of harm that could happen in the short term, and many people are trying to do so."
Research director Peter Van Valkenburgh will succeed Brito as executive director on January 1, 2025. Policy advisor Landon Zinda will serve as policy director. Brito said operations director Antonie Hodge and communications director Neeraj Agrawal will also play a larger role in fundraising and management. (The Block)
