Transak: A security incident was discovered, 1.14% of the user base was affected but no financial sensitive information was leaked

According to official news, crypto payment provider Transak announced that it had discovered a security incident. Its platform was attacked by a ransomware organization, affecting 1.14% of its user base, but no financially sensitive or critical information was leaked. It is reported that an attacker gained unauthorized access to the laptop of one of our employees through a complex phishing attack. The attacker used the stolen credentials to log into the system of a third-party KYC provider for document scanning and verification services and gained access to specific user information stored in the provider's dashboard. Transak added that at present, there is no indication that the data has been abused, but it is recommended that affected users remain vigilant and monitor suspicious activities. Transak will provide advice and resources to affected users to help them protect themselves from the harm of information abuse and provide resources such as identity monitoring services.
