Norway’s central bank plans to release CBDC proposal next year

The Norwegian central bank is advancing research on central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and plans to make a decision by the end of 2025. Pal Longva, deputy governor of the Norwegian central bank, said Norway is not worried about lagging behind other wealthy countries in CBDC and is currently in the pilot phase of exploring CBDCs. In December 2023, the Norwegian bank released the results of the fourth phase of its CBDC trial, which determined at the time that retail CBDCs were not necessary. Currently, the Norwegian bank is expanding its research to the fifth phase of wholesale CBDC applications and plans to finalize this decision by the end of 2025. (Cryptonews)
