Ethena published a statement saying that in October 2024, the Ethena team discovered and quickly thwarted a social engineering attack that attempted to compromise its X account. The attacker's strategy included complex identity forgery and social engineering of X platform employees to circumvent standard security measures, including two-factor authentication (2FA). Ethena responded immediately and coordinated with the X platform support team to prevent unauthorized changes and ensure that the account is protected from future attacks.
