On the morning of the 11th local time, Kim Jae-seop, a member of the National Power Party of South Korea, announced through a live TV broadcast that he would no longer abide by the ruling party's position of opposing the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol, and would vote in favor of the next presidential impeachment case.
At present, 5 members of the ruling party of South Korea have expressed their support for the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol. The South Korean National Assembly has a total of 300 seats. The presidential impeachment case must be approved by at least 2/3, that is, at least 200 members vote in favor to pass the National Assembly and enter the trial stage of the Constitutional Court of South Korea.
At present, the opposition camp in the South Korean National Assembly, including the largest opposition party, the Democratic Party of Korea, has a total of 192 seats, and the ruling party has 108 seats. Under the premise that all members of the opposition camp vote in favor of impeachment, only 8 members of the ruling party vote in favor, and the impeachment of Yoon Seok-yeol will pass the National Assembly.
At present, 3 members of the ruling party still need to vote in favor of impeachment to achieve this goal. (Kim Shi)
