According to PANews, Thomas Peterffy, the billionaire founder of Interactive Brokers Group Inc., has advised investors to hold a small portion of their net assets in Bitcoin despite its volatility. Peterffy suggests allocating 2% to 3% of one's net assets to Bitcoin, cautioning against exceeding 10% due to the potential risks involved. He expressed concerns over the cryptocurrency's price fluctuations, stating, "It has no intrinsic value. Its only value is akin to paper currency, which is worthless. I believe anyone without Bitcoin should own some, but not too much."
In 2021, Interactive Brokers launched cryptocurrency trading, allowing users to trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash through a partnership with crypto brokerage Paxos Trust Co. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Thomas Peterffy has an estimated net worth of approximately $53 billion.
