Odaily Planet Daily News: Regarding the US announcement of a 125% tariff on China, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said that the US, out of its own selfishness, used tariffs as a weapon to exert extreme pressure and seek private interests, which seriously infringed upon the legitimate rights and interests of various countries, seriously violated the rules of the World Trade Organization, seriously damaged the rules-based multilateral trading system, and seriously impacted the stability of the global economic order. This is a blatant defiance of the world and against the entire world. I want to emphasize again that there are no winners in tariff wars and trade wars. China does not want to fight, but it is not afraid of fighting. We will never sit idly by and watch the legitimate rights and interests of the Chinese people being deprived, and we will never sit idly by and watch international economic and trade rules and the multilateral trading system being destroyed. If the US insists on fighting a tariff war and a trade war, China will fight to the end. The US puts its own interests above the public interests of the international community and serves the hegemonic interests of the United States at the expense of the legitimate interests of countries around the world.
