OpenSea said it was expanding the use of police reports, which would be used to confirm all reports of theft, whereas previously it had only used the police to deal with escalated disputes. For all future reports of loss, if the platform does not receive a police report from the user within 7 days, it will restart the transaction of the reported lost item to prevent false reports. In addition, OpenSea said that the platform is currently working to better automate attack and theft detection, such as blocking suspicious URLs in advance, and is working closely with ecosystem partners to help prevent and curb theft.
