Crypto custody technology provider Fireblocks has become the first company to receive the Cryptocurrency Security Standard (CCSS) Qualified Service Provider Level 3 accreditation from the Cryptocurrency Certification Consortium (C4). This is a one-of-a-kind certification designed to serve as the security standard for crypto wallets and custody. The C4 audit focused on the Fireblocks system — including hot and cold wallet creation, key generation, secure transfer environments, authorization workflows, and an in-depth review of the systems that provide encryption functionality. Fireblocks clients include Bank of New York Mellon, Robinhood and fintech firm Revolut, among others. Launched by C4 in 2014, CCSS has become the gold standard for platforms that include crypto wallet management as part of their business logic. According to Deloitte, CCSS is designed to enhance standard information security practices and complement existing standards.
