Scroll, a native zkEVM Layer 2 Solution for Ethereum has recently announced the release of a "Pre-Alpha" testnet for early testers. A more open and permissionless Alpha testnet will be deployed later which will be opened to the public.

Whitelist Application
1. Click on the link https://prealpha.scroll.io/ to enter their testnet.
2. Click waitlist to enter the sign-up page or access it directly through here https://signup.scroll.io/.
3. Fill in the sign-up form and ensure your wallet address and email address are accurate. The address must be from your Metamask wallet.
4. It is expected that there will be an email response back in about a month. Do frequently check Scroll’s official discord channel for further information and updates.
The step-by-step testnet tutorial after whitelisted
1. Add test network (L1, L2)
Visit the test network (https://prealpha.scroll.io/) and connect your whitelisted wallet address. If the prompt indicates that you are not authorized, the address is not qualified. If successful, add the test network rpc and token address into Metamask.
Connect your Metamask wallet to the testnet.
Add Scroll’s test network and token via a simple popup.
2. Head over to Faucet tab and request for 1 ETH and 100 USDC testnet coins. This can be repeated once every 24 hours.
3. Head over to the Bridge tab and bridge asset (preferably ETH) from Scroll L1 to Scroll L2, and from Scroll L2 back to Scroll L1.
4. Head over to the Swap tab and swap any tokens, in this case we swapped from USDC to ETH.
5. On the same swap tab, click swap and add liquidity. You can also remove liquidity shortly after.

Scroll Explorers
Lastly, Scroll has three explorers: Rollup Explorer (https://rollupscan.scroll.io/), L1 Block Explorer (https://l1scan.scroll.io/), and L2 Block Explorer (https://l2scan.scroll.io/). At present, these explorers are smooth with a very enticing and alluring UI/UX. The smoothness could be due to the low userbase as well as fewer functions available for testing.
