Where have all the airdrops gone?
Recently, airdrop farmers have been disappointed by the lower-than-expected allocations of popular airdrops such as Scroll and Grass. Although people are generally pessimistic about airdrop farming, there are reasons to be hopeful.
●The market is recovering, and teams that have been delaying TGE may start airdropping tokens.
●The bullish price trend means that new airdrop tokens are unlikely to be sold immediately.
●There are still many excellent protocols that have not issued tokens yet.
Our team has compiled a list of 77 potential airdrops that you can start farming today.
First, let's take a look at the overview of airdrop farming at the end of 2024.
1, Airdrop Type
Airdrop farming strategies can be roughly divided into 4 categories: testnet, task, pledge, and protocol use.
(1) Testnet
The reason why many people like testnet airdrops is simple, because it is free.
Due to the free nature of testnets and the surge in airdrop farming in recent years, many testnets now have hundreds of thousands or even millions of active addresses.
With a few exceptions like Sonic, most testnets don’t commit to airdrops to users, so if you use a testnet, you’re probably going to spend a lot of time grinding for no financial gain.
In your airdrop farming plans, testnets fall into one of two scenarios:
● You’re starting from scratch and want to get some crypto to start (even in this case, your time might be better spent working and then using that work to buy crypto directly).
● You’re taking it easy and just want an easy way to get some extra crypto while trying out the new network. This is also the only time I’ve used a testnet.
(2) Missions
As the name suggests, these are the social and on-chain missions that the protocol gives you.
The rewards for these tasks are usually Discord badges, commemorative NFTs, or "points."
These rewards are usually free (or require a small amount of funds to redeem), but I am much more positive about them than testnets.
The reason I prefer task-based airdrops to testnets is simple. First, task-based protocols are more forthright about their intentions to reward participants. Second, tasks are usually not only to reward users, but also to make them better understand the protocol - tasks will guide participants to use the protocol and consume content about the protocol. If I am a crypto novice and want to know where to start, tasks will be a good choice.
(3) Staking
That is, staking a token in the hope of obtaining another airdrop token from its ecosystem.
Staking airdrops have been the most common in the Cosmos ecosystem, with stakers of ATOM, OSMO, TIA, and other Cosmos chains receiving large amounts of airdropped tokens.
The most popular airdropped staking tokens this year are those with large ecosystems, such as TIA, DYM, and PYTH.
While this approach still has potential, protocols are generally becoming more strict about allocating airdrops to stakers, as many people distribute their stakes across 5, 10, or even 100+ wallets.
(4) Protocol Usage
There is actually a lot of value in this type of airdrop (at least some of it).
Protocol Usage airdrops can be thought of as a form of liquidity mining. You don’t receive liquidity mining incentives continuously, but rather you receive them later either all at once or at the end of each “epoch”.
But which protocols might be launching airdrops? How do you know which ones are worth farming?
The easiest way to discover potential airdrop protocols is to look at those that don’t have a token yet. DefiLlama’s airdrop dashboard has a pretty good list.
But even on that list, there are over 1,500 tokenless protocols. How do you know which ones are worth farming?
Generally, I look for three conditions in a protocol that are suitable for airdrop farming:
●No token. If the protocol already has a token, the chances of a future airdrop are much lower. There are very few exceptions.
●Not many wallets.
Remember Jito? Even small-time traders who deposited only $100 received a five-figure airdrop. The reason is that, despite being one of the largest DeFi apps on Solana, only about 10,000 users actually use it.
●Generates (or has the potential to generate) high fees. The most valuable airdrops are those protocols that generate a lot of fees. If a protocol doesn't generate fees, it's unlikely to have a high market cap, and if it doesn't have a high market cap, the airdrop is unlikely to be worth much. If it doesn't generate fees now, but will grow significantly in the future, it's still worth farming. Some people started farming Jito last summer. As the Solana network grew, Jito grew with it, and these people have already taken a head start in accumulating Jito airdrop points.
2Where can I find airdrops?
There are two good places to look for profitable airdrops: growing chains and killer apps.
Solana has released a series of valuable airdrops this year and last precisely because it is growing exponentially. Before that, Arbitrum's airdrop was lucrative precisely because it is a widely used chain and its airdrop came after a year of sustained growth. A few chains I would consider for airdrops are Base, Sui, and Stacks.
Uniswap's app is notoriously high-value and widespread. This is because Uniswap is the leading crypto application of 2020 and one of the most important dApps of all time. The main problem with farming killer apps is that if these apps have already found their own traction, there is no reason to issue a token. Fortunately, these apps are usually fun for users (pump dot fun and Polymarket come to mind), so if you are active in the crypto space, you may have come across them in some way.
77 potential airdrops in 2023 and 2025
To help you better complete your airdrop frming journey, I have compiled a list of 77 potential airdrops.
This resource contains the following information about each airdrop:
● Protocol name
● Protocol Twitter link
● Category (testnet/task/protocol usage)
● Airdrop guide (external guide link for each airdrop)
● Airdrop farm task
● Cost (free/requires funding)
● Chain
The purpose of publishing this list is to help you find an airdrop that matches your goals and beliefs, and then start farming.
