To celebrate the nationwide theater premiere of Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: No Way Home, AMC Theaters is planning an NFT promotional campaign.
The company is offering a limited number of up to 86,000 Spider-Man NFTs to its “AMC Stubs Premiere & A-List” and “AMC Investor Connect” subscribers. Viewers who buy pre-sale tickets for the latest Spider-Man movie on December 16 will receive an airdrop.
According to a statement on November 28, this is the first collaboration between Sony Pictures and AMC Entertainment.
More than 100 NFT designs will be produced by Cub Studios, a BAFTA-winning animation studio. These tokens will be exchanged on the WAX platform, a carbon-neutral blockchain that operates on a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism.
The highly anticipated film is the third installment in the Spider-Man franchise and a sequel to "Spider-Man: Far From Home," which grossed $1.13 billion worldwide.
Damien Hirst giving away NFT
The famous British NFT artist Damien Hirst (Damien Hirst) airdropped 10,000 NFTs to those who previously purchased his "The Currency" series of artworks.
The giveaway is from a new NFT collection, "Great Expectations," which contains 10,000 images based on his artwork, Certified Lover Boy.
Great Expectations
Everything done well is art. With Drake's support and blessing, I created this free Thanksgiving gift for all holders of The Currency series NFTs; loosely based on the album cover I made for Drake.
— Damien Hirst (@hirst_official) November 25, 2021
The series is based on the cover artwork for Canadian rapper Drake's sixth studio album, Certified Lover Boy. On November 26, Hirst commented:
"I tried to create an image for Drake's album cover that summed up the powerful hopeful love, humor and bold truths in Drake's music, and now I hope that through this free gift, you can all share and feel my love for NFTs and the digital world excitement."
3D NFTs on ICP
Dfinity’s Internet Computer Network (ICP) is launching NFT Studio, a 3D and interactive NFT platform that allows creators to design, mint and stake regular and interactive 3D NFTs.
The platform includes a 3D voxel engine and a pixel engine, allowing users to create 3D models that can be converted into NFTs and used in video games.
Lukas Merville, founder and team lead of NFT Studio, said that 3D creators are often limited on networks such as Ethereum or Solana, unable to handle large file sizes, before adding: "3D NFT sounds like fiction, far from it. Far beyond the current state of blockchain technology. But with Internet Computer, we make it possible on-chain."
There are already some series of NFTs running on ICP, such as ICPunks, ICPuppies, and ICKitties.
Other NFT tidbits
On November 25th, a rare piece of digital land in the Axie Infinity game was sold for 550 ETH, or about $2.5 million. There are only 220 "Genesis plots" in existence, making them one of the rarest plots in the game.
Axie isn't the only virtual land deal of note, as some plots have also recently sold for big bucks. As Cointelegraph reported, Decentraland-based Metaverse Group purchased 116 plots of land in the prime location for 618,000 MANA tokens, worth approximately $2.5 million.
