The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) is interested in expanding its Web3 footprint and is seeking to recruit an experienced corporate attorney to work on transactions incorporating new technologies such as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), blockchain, metaverse, and decentralized finance (DeFi).
The Walt Disney Company’s Legal Department’s Corporate Transactions Group is looking to hire a “Principal Counsel — Corporate Transactions, Emerging Technologies & NFTs,” as stated in the job advertisement posted on LinkedIn on September 25.
It is anticipated that the attorney would offer comprehensive product life cycle legal guidance and assistance for worldwide NFT goods. All of this takes place while maintaining close collaboration with other Disney attorneys and various business stakeholders.
Attorney needed to carry out Web3 due diligence
The newly hired employee will aid with due diligence for “NFT, blockchain, third-party marketplace, and cloud provider projects.” Additionally, they will assist with complicated agreement talks and the writing of contracts.
It is important for the Principal Counsel to collaborate with the various business units as they plan the “accelerated and aggressive” implementation of new worldwide emerging technology initiatives.
An attorney with a minimum of five to eight years of experience managing and running complex corporate transactions and experience working at a large multinational law firm with an internationally recognized corporate practice is what Disney is looking for in an applicant for the position of legal counsel.
Overall, this new employment opportunity reveals Disney’s active research of the Web3 world, and the company is making an effort to avoid missing out on the buzz around the NFT and metaverse. Just two weeks ago, the CEO of Disney outlined plans for the company’s metaverse, referring to Disney’s vision for the metaverse as “next-generation storytelling.”
