The company will be listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (SEHK) on July 7, 2022. The listing price of this ETF is 15 Hong Kong dollars, and each lot of 50 fund units is priced at 750 Hong Kong dollars. The ETF is expected to become the first global Asia-Pacific blockchain ETF in Asia, and its management fee will be charged at 0.85% per year.
According to Samsung, the new ETF is “a simple vehicle that can help investors invest in metaverse-related industries in the Asia-Pacific region, excluding New Zealand.” According to the company, categories that will be considered may include, but are not limited to, augmented reality/virtual reality , artificial intelligence, social media, online gaming, digital transactions, devices, platforms and content.
As of now, the company has not issued an official announcement disclosing the details of its top ten holdings.
Metaverse is a virtual space in which the new Internet uses 3D technology to simulate or enhance physical reality through technology. Technologies involved in the Metaverse include virtual reality, blockchain, and augmented reality.
According to Gartner's prediction, the metaverse market size may reach US$783.3 billion by 2024, with a compound annual growth rate of 13.1% since 2020.
As the Metaverse business is in a huge and rapid development stage, 3172.HK, as an actively managed investment portfolio, is expected to seize investment opportunities in a timely manner.
Samsung further said it was considering plans to list some of Amplify's other flagship ETFs in South Korea and overseas. The firm said it was studying options to list the Amplify CWP Enhanced Dividend Income ETF in South Korea or Hong Kong.
Previously, the group launched another blockchain technology ETF (stock code: 3171.HK) in Hong Kong last Friday (June 23), which is the first global blockchain technology ETF that tracks various Crypto companies. Its top 10 holdings include U.S.-listed bitcoin futures contract provider CME Group, cryptocurrency banking group Silvergate and IBM.
Samsung unveiled its new flagship phone, the Galaxy S22 Ultra, demonstrating its growing interest in the encryption space. Samsung said that the S22 Ultra is equipped with an encrypted wallet, and users can also store identification documents and keys in digital format.
The new features of the S22 Ultra will be released first in South Korea later this year before being released globally. The new digital identity capabilities also include storing documents such as ID cards, driver's licenses, digital debit and credit cards, and digital keys to homes and cars.
