Coinbase, the US-based cryptocurrency exchange, has unveiled innovative features in its wallet, streamlining international money transfers and bypassing traditional obstacles.
Effortless Money Transfers: "Send Money with a Link"
Coinbase introduced a user-friendly feature termed "Send money with a link" to facilitate quick and straightforward global money transfers. Users can generate a link within the Coinbase Wallet and share it through social media. However, both the sender and receiver must own a Coinbase Wallet. Non-users receiving the link will be prompted to download the app from Apple or Android stores.
The company emphasizes the safety of this initiative, ensuring unclaimed funds are automatically returned to the sender within two weeks. Coinbase stated, "It's that simple."
Versatility and Efficiency in Everyday Transactions
This new feature proves efficient in various situations, such as settling debts, last-minute gifting, and tipping service providers. It simplifies the money-sending process, eliminating the need for multiple apps or navigating through complex usernames.
Swift and Cost-Effective: A Boon for High-Inflation Economies
By bypassing traditional methods, the feature eliminates the expenses and complications associated with global money transfers. Unlike traditional transactions taking up to five days, Coinbase wallet ensures instantaneous settlement and zero-fee transactions.
Supported in over 170 countries and available in 20 languages, Coinbase's wallet enables sending and receiving money virtually anywhere. The platform also supports local fiat onramps from 130+ countries, collaborating with major processors like Pix, Instant P2P Bank, and GCash.
While Coinbase's initiative is commendable, potential users should remain cautious about relying solely on cryptocurrency for financial transactions. The volatility and regulatory uncertainties associated with the crypto market warrant careful consideration.
