Meta Platforms (formerly known as Facebook) launched a blockchain project in 2018, before the cryptocurrency boom broke out in 2021. The following year, the project was named "Libra". Unfortunately, due to Facebook's accumulated notoriety and various controversies over the past decade, Libra was unable to obtain approval from US regulators, and the project eventually came to an end. To make a long story short, Libra was later renamed "Diem" and related assets were sold to Silvergate Capital, a listed bank in the United States, in January 2022.
At the same time, Diem's original development team established their own blockchain projects, among which Aptos and Sui are more famous. Both projects have recently gained market attention, especially Aptos, which successfully raised $350 million in funding this year. For comparison, PoS (proof of stake) pioneer Solana raised just $25 million before launch.
As the underlying PoS blockchain, Aptos uses a new smart contract programming language called "Move", which is also Diem's programming language. The most critical feature of Move is its "parallel execution" technology, which enables Aptos to execute more than 160,000 transactions per second. Of course, the premise is that everything is in order. If successful, Aptos will be the most scalable underlying public chain to date.
So can Aptos perform as amazing as advertised, or is it just another empty promise? To be honest, no one knows at this stage. But what I do know is that now is the time to prepare in advance. Maybe after the public chain is launched, we have the opportunity to get free airdrop tokens? The following are applications and DeFi (decentralized finance) protocols currently in development and testing, so let's start the Aptos journey!
wallet
1. Martian Aptos Wallet -https://martianwallet.xyz/
Twitter - @martian_wallet
Visit https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/martian-aptos-wallet/efbglgofoippbgcjepnhiblaibcnclgk and download the wallet extension for Chrome.
2. Create a new wallet.
3. Create a new password.
4. Copy down the mnemonic phrase. Screenshots or photos are not recommended.
5. "Alt + Shift + X" to quickly open the wallet, doesn't matter.
6. The wallet is successfully created.
7. Before using the Martian wallet, you need to fix the extension first.
8. Once pinned, click on the wallet icon. Enter the password created in step 3.
9. After opening the wallet, it will directly connect to the test network, no additional settings are required. Tap "Airdrop" repeatedly to get Aptos test tokens. Be aware that these test coins are not real Aptos coins, they only exist in the test network.
10. Pontem Wallet -https://pontem.network/
Twitter -@PontemNetwork
Visit https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/pontem-wallet/phkbamefinggmakgklpkljjmgibohnba and download the wallet extension for Chrome.
11. Create a new wallet.
12. Create a new password.
13. Copy down the seed phrase. Screenshots or photos are not recommended.
14. Secure (step 7) and open the wallet. Click "Faucet" to get Aptos test tokens.
domain name service provider
1. Aptos Name Service -https://www.aptosnames.com/
Twitter -@aptosnames
Visit https://www.aptosnames.com/ and connect the wallet. This application will use the Martian wallet.
2. Enter the domain name you want to mint and click the Search button. Again, these domains currently only exist on the testnet and are reset every week.
3. If the domain name is available, click "Buy" to mint. It cannot be minted if it has been registered by someone else.
4. Approve the transaction.
5. You can view all domain names that have been minted on this page.
The second part of the guide will take you to understand Aptos' NFT market and DeFi protocol. Next episode link:
