Recently, the atomic asset trading platform BazAR crashed due to the high popularity of DumDumz NFT, which made the ecological project parties currently gearing up on AO deeply aware of the importance of project stability and high concurrency. At present, various incubation pools and hackathons have appeared in the AO ecosystem to accelerate the construction of ecological projects and provide financial support and solid backing for the development of projects in the entire ecosystem. We look forward to the outbreak of the AO ecosystem and ushering in a new stage of mature technology and smooth user experience!
In the early morning of July 28th, Beijing time, DumDumz NFT launched the latest batch of NFTs on the AO atomic asset trading platform BazAR at a price of 0.1984 $wAR per piece. After only two minutes of sales, the popularity of the NFT caused BazAR to crash suddenly. All gateways were unable to access their website normally, and they were stuck on the loading interface for nearly 10 minutes.
Reason for BazAR crash
After the crash, CryptoCherie, the founder of DumDumz NFT, contacted the BazAR platform in a timely manner. According to BazAR team member nickj, the crash was not caused by a DDoS (distributed denial of service attack), but by the fact that running multiple high-traffic processes on the same CU on AO may cause blockage. They are actively contacting the AO official team to try to transfer the UCM process to another CU for repair. They also said that AO is currently in the testnet stage and the AO team has been working hard to improve the stability and scalability of the network.
DumDumz NFT craze
It is essentially an AO stress test
Fortunately, the website was quickly repaired within 15 minutes and can be accessed normally. The discussion of this incident in the DumDumz NFT project Discord group was unprecedentedly hot, which also reflects users' great attention to the first NFT project in the AO ecosystem. The platform crash not only did not weaken the enthusiasm of users, but it also ignited the expectations and curiosity of the entire AO ecosystem for the DumDumz NFT project. At around 5 a.m. Beijing time on the same day, Sam Williams, the founder of Arweave and AO, changed his Twitter profile picture to the blue skin Dum of the DumDumz NFT series, which has both Arweave and AO elements. It is reported that many official team members and ecosystem KOLs have changed their profile pictures to DumDumz, which shows the user enthusiasm and market potential behind it.
However, this BazAR crash also shows that the BazAR platform itself and AO still have more room for optimization when facing high-concurrency scenarios. In the subsequent new batch of sales on July 29, the project party encountered NFT data upload problems, which led to delayed listing. Although DumDumz NFT community users also expressed support and understanding for the BazAR platform, this incident undoubtedly sounded the alarm for the BazAR platform itself and the AO official team, but it is also a rare and valuable experience.
BazAR still needs to make greater efforts in stability and scalability, introduce more load balancing mechanisms and fault-tolerant measures, and ensure that the system can still run smoothly under high concurrency. At present, various foundations and developer communities in the AO ecosystem are also launching Grants, incubation pools and hackathons to accelerate the construction and iterative optimization of ecological projects, providing financial support and solid backing for the development of projects in the entire ecosystem. At present, many projects have appeared on AO and are gearing up for construction. We look forward to the day when the AO ecosystem explodes. It will be a new era with mature technology, excellent user experience, and rich application scenarios!
