Google is reportedly gearing up to unveil its latest AI innovation. Codenamed "Project Javis", this new AI powered by future vision of Google's AI chatbot Gemini, is designed to automate a wide range of tasks, from research to making purchases online.
Javis is set to be release in December.
According to media reports, Jarvis responds to a person's commands by capturing frequent screenshots of what's on their computer screen, and interpreting the shots before taking actions like clicking on a button or typing into a text field.
How Google Javis may work
Jarvis is reportedly made to work only with web browsers- particulrly Chrome- to assist with common tasks like research, shopping and booking flights, according to three people the outlet spoke with who have direct knowledge of the project.
By integrating seamlessly with Chrome, Javis can analyze web pages, interpret user instructions and execut actions like clicking buttons or typing text. While it currently requires a few seconds to complete each task, Google is actively working to optimize its performance.
Google's latest AI-powered automation comes after other tech giants are also developing similar technologies. Microsoft's Copilot Vision will let you talk with it about webpages you're viewing, while Anthropic debuted a "cumberson and error-prone" Claude beta update that can use a computer for you.
The information cautions that Google's plan to show Javis off in December is subjected to change. The company is reportedly considering releasing it to some small number of testers to find and help the company work out bugs.
